This rich Halloween hot chocolate is a spooky version of a classic hot cocoa. Perfect for a brisk trick-or-treat night or Halloween party, this version uses black cocoa powder for an ultra-dark version that tastes like Oreo cookies.
Add the whole milk, water, sugar and cocoa powder to a saucepan over medium to medium low heat. Whisk occasionally until it begins to steam. Don’t let it burn on the bottom of the pan.
2½ cups whole milk, 2½ cups water, ½ cup granulated sugar, ⅔ cup black cocoa powder
Add the chocolate and whisk until melted, then add the vanilla and whisk.
½ cups semi-sweet chocolate, 2 teaspoons vanilla
If desired, add a few drops of black food coloring to deepen the color and whisk.
