Soft and Chewy Whiskey Caramels

dark brown sugar

bourbon whiskey

corn syrup

sweetened condensed milk



flaky sea salt

Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat.

Add the dark brown sugar and corn syrup and stir until the sugar granules are fully dissolved.

Cook until bubbles begin to form, stirring constantly.

Add the sweetened condensed milk and stir until combined. Increase the heat to medium.

Allow the mixture to bubble (stirring) until it reaches 250℉ on a candy thermometer.

Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the bourbon and vanilla.

Pour the caramel into the prepared loaf pan. Stand at room temperature for five minutes.

Top generously with flaky sea salt, then refrigerate (uncovered) for one hour before slicing.
