Maryland Crab Pretzel Appetizer

A staple Maryland appetizer, the Crab Pretzel is a perfect addition for your next gathering. Don't forget a beer!

Cream cheese

Scallions

Mayonnaise

Cheddar cheese

Monterey jack cheese

Ground mustard

Sour cream

Worcestershire

Lump crab meat

Old Bay  seasoning

Add the flour to the activated yeast, sugar, and butter.

Mix the dough with a dough hook until it cleans the sides.

Knead the dough by hand for 3-5 minutes.

Add the dough to a greased bowl and cover to rise.

Pretzel dough doubled in size.

Cut the dough into two pieces.

Gently roll out the dough.

Roll the dough into a 1-inch log, then form the pretzel shape.

Form the log into a "U" then cross the pieces.

Bring the dough down and twist it twice, then press down the edges.

Hook fingers around the bottom of the dough to transfer.

Transfer the pretzel to a baking soda water bath for one minute.

Bake until golden.

Add the crab dip onto the pretzels in heaping mounds.

Top with shredded cheddar cheese and bake until the cheese is melted.

Garnish with sliced scallions and Old Bay.
